Please keep Fr. Tom Mulcrone in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. He has stated” Every day I feel a bit stronger and better but I have a way to go…I am trying to learn the virtue of patience” He also sends his gratitude to all who have reached out to him and for your prayers.
The scholarship winners have been chosen and notified. Congratulations to all! The scholarships will be awarded at the mass Sunday, May 18th, during the monthly CFD Mass held at Holy Family Church at 8:30 a.m. Complete details in June’s newsletter.
Safe travels to all whom will be attending the NFFF Survivor’s Conference in St. Louis, MO on Sunday, May 4th. May you find some comfort and laughter during this time with other survivors.
Through the cooperation of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, there will be an opportunity for survivors of fallen firefighters from the State of Illinois, to get acquainted, support each other, and share some good times. It will be held on July 17th in Carol Stream. This is an adults only retreat for parents, widowed, siblings, and children. For further information, please contact Eileen.
Chicago Fireman’ American Legion Post #667 presents the 82nd Annual Memorial Day service to be held at Holy Family Church located 1120 W. Roosevelt on Monday, May 26th (1a-4). Assembly of uniform and Post 667 members at 0900, followed by a short parade at 0930. Mass and service at 1000 with awarding of Post #667 scholarships at the end mass. This will be followed by a 21 gun salute, taps and flag raising ceremony outside of church. A continental breakfast will be served in the church basement. This annual Memorial Day mass is in honor of personnel and GBS members that have passed away in the last year.
Ignite the Spirit holds many fun filled events throughout the year benefitting firefighter/paramedics in need; please go to their website ignitethespirit.org for opportunities to attend these events.

There are different charity golf outings this year in Illinois to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. They are working on having at least one in every state of the Union, and they have been quite successful. For further information on how to participate by either golfing or donating, please visit www.firehero.org. There may be one in your area. The NFFF has done so much to support CFD duty deaths families in recent years and they deserve our support.
