Dear Gold Badge Members and Friends,

Please keep the family of Ann Glinka, GBS member, who passed away on February 2, 2014. Ann was the wife of LODD FF Teddy Glinka (6.16.65).

Get well wishes to both MaryCae Reidy and Shirley O’Connor.

145 CFD Candidates will graduate on Wednesday, June 4, 9:00 a.m in the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier.  All are welcome to attend, however, we are asked to  RSVP. So, please RSVP to this address by noon Tuesday. Meanwhile, congratulations to them all!

Ralph Scheu, president emeritus of the 100 Club Chicago, passed away on May 16th.  Mr. Scheu was an advocate who helped many CFD/CPD families throughout the years. A “Celebration of Life” for Ralph G. Scheu will take place on Thursday, June 19thfrom 6-8pm at the University Club’s Michigan Room (76 East Monroe Street). Guests, 100 Club Senior Directors, Board Members and family members will be welcomed to share stories.  We hope you will be able to attend.

Plans are moving along well for the 2nd Annual Illinois Firefighter Survivor Conference on July 17. Although the request was to RSVP by June 1, if you need a few more days to decide, that is fine. If you did not receive an invitation to the conference, please contact Eileen.

Many dedicated retirees of the CFD have been working on a memorial for CFD retirees and now it is official. They are approved to move forward with this memorial, plans and order forms to have names listed are now available, please contact Eileen at this address or phone to be forwarded all information.

Ignite the Spirit holds many fun filled events throughout the year benefitting firefighter/paramedics in need; please go to their website ignitethespirit.org for opportunities to attend these events.

There are different charity golf outings this year in Illinois to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. They are working on having at least one in every state of the Union, and they have been quite successful. For further information on how to participate by either golfing or donating, please visit www.firehero.org. There may be one in your area. The NFFF has done so much to support CFD duty deaths families in recent years and they deserve our support.
