August 2014 Newsletter

Dear Gold Badge Members and Friends,

Get well wishes to MaryCae Reidy, Shirley O’Connor, and Mary Wheatley.

Thank you to all whom attended the CFD Picnic 12th Annual Family Day!! This day would not be possible without the dedicated and behind the scenes volunteers and generous donors. A great time was had by all even with the rain. Wonderful to see old and new faces!!

The National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will be held October 10-12, 2014, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The NFFF invites you to attend and encourage you to register online at www.regonline.com/2014mw-survivors. Registration for Returning Survivors closes on August 31, 2014.

Friday September 5th 15th Annual CFD vs CPD Charity Baseball Game @ U.S. Cellular Field 7:00 p.m. (1e-2). Tickets are available; please contact Eileen at this address or 708.560.5792. This is a wonderful event for all ages!!  Tickets will be available at the GBS monthly meeting.  $5 in advance, $10 at the gate.  Volunteers will be needed.

Since not a single CFD firefighter or CPD police officer has died in the line of duty since the last game, how that is for GOOD news, there will be an honorable mention to those who have made the sacrifice in the past 20 years since the charity game began.

Many dedicated retirees of the CFD have been working on a memorial for CFD retirees and now it is official. They are approved to move forward with this memorial, plans and order forms to have names listed are now available, please contact Eileen at this address or phone to be forwarded all information.

Ignite the Spirit holds many fun filled events throughout the year benefitting firefighter/paramedics in need; please go to their website ignitethespirit.org for opportunities to attend these events.
