A tradition of an annual tree lighting started by the CPD at their headquarters, which is now shared with the CFD, has always included GBS Christmas ornaments. We now have the opportunity to personalize those ornaments. If you would like to see an ornament with your beloved firefighter/pm’s name included, please either bring your personalized ornament to our next meeting on 11/16 or mail it to our address by 11/25 or plan to attend the event. The date of the tree lighting is TBA.

As the end of the year is fast approaching, we had a year of happy and sad times together, but please know each and every one is always in our thoughts.

Save the Date

*Saturday December 6th, CFFU Local 2 Annual Toy Drive (3a-2)

For over 10 years, we have been always fortunate to raise enough money with donations given directly from our GBS members to purchase bike helmets without using GBS funds. Though economy is tough for all, the tough economy only means there are all the more needy children. Our goal is to be able to donate 100 helmets to this truly wonderful family event. If you would like to donate, please send to our address with bike helmets in memo. Also, community service hours will be available if needed the day of event. On this date, we will gather at Local 2 to help beginning at 8:00 a.m. The parade will step off at 10:00 a.m. for the Electrician Union Hall located at 600 West Washington. Paid parking available located behind the hall. This is where all bicycles, helmets, and other toys will be presented to Catholic Charities. This is a wonderful family event to kick off the Holiday Season. There is still time to donate for this worthy cause, as much as we would like to continue this next year, donations are low this year and would need to reconsider this in the future if we are still able to donate if unable to meet cost of helmets.

*Sunday December 7th, GBS Annual Christmas/Holiday Luncheon (1a-3)

It is time to renew our committees.  They consist of Scholarship, Monthly Mass Hosts, Memorial Park, CFD Family Day Picnic, and new this year – CFD VS CPD Charity Baseball Game.  If interested in joining any of these committees, please let us know.

Also, the GBS will be celebrating our 24th anniversary this upcoming February, which will bring membership dues as well as our general elections. Board positions include president, vice president, treasurer, corresponding secretary, recording secretary, program director, and historian. If interested in any of these positions, please contact us at this address or Eileen.

As we are in the process of updating the GBS’s membership, we are asking if you have any new information that you would like us to have i.e. an updated e-mail, address, phone number, or any other contact information that we would need to contact members, please let us know at this address or contact Eileen via cell number.

As much as we like to include any events, updates etc. through the newsletter, many come up through the month and we would like to keep the membership updated the best that we can. Any help on this matter, would be appreciated.
