Chicago Fireman’ American Legion Post #667 presents the 82nd Annual Memorial Day service to be held at Holy Family Church located 1120 W. Roosevelt on Monday, May 25th (3c-4). Assembly of uniform and Post 667 members at 0900, followed by a short parade at 0930. Mass and service at 1000 with awarding of Post #667 scholarships at the end mass. This will be followed by a 21 gun salute, taps and flag raising ceremony outside of church. A continental breakfast will be served in the church basement. This annual Memorial Day mass is in honor of personnel and GBS members that have passed away in the last year.
As we moved toward our 25th Anniversary, we recognize the need to do some organizational restructuring. Our mission remains the same, to be a source of emotional support and comfort to LODD families of the CFD and to advocate for them through their journey of grief.
We would like to see more of our families involved and are now taking the time to reiterate that we are a family organization. That means we are inclusive of surviving spouses, children, parents, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, significant others, etc. So yes, this does include males.
A committee has put together a survey through an online site called Monkey Survey. It is a survey that can be completed on line if you have computer access. For those who receive their newsletter through the USPS, you may complete the hard copy and return through the mail or email. This survey takes only a few minutes to complete.
The survey can be accessed at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YD5HCK3
We hope that through this survey we can determine if the GBS is or is not a viable resource to your family, determine if there is a way or better way, we could be that resource and ask if you would like to be involved in helping make that happen for other families.
Save the Date

A friendly reminder, you do not need to be Catholic to attend the CFD monthly Mass and fellowship that follows. Also, you do not need to attend mass and fellowship in order to attend GBS meetings. The meeting starts about 10:00 a.m. (depending on the level of socializing), these meetings generally last for about an hour and there is always someone looking to go out to lunch afterwards. Attending meetings is the best way to keep informed and we are always open to fresh faces and new input. These next few meetings will be important so hoping you can attend.
