Dear Gold Badge Members and Friends, 

On Sunday, October 9th (1e-3)the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation will be hosting their annual Memorial Ceremony in Emmittsburg, MD. FF/PM Dan Capuano will be honored and many members from the CFD and GBS will be there to offer support. Safe travels all whom are traveling and please know that all of them are in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep the Capuano Family in your thoughts.

There will be a CFD Candidate Firefighter Graduation on ThursdayOctober 20th (3d-2) beginning 6:00 p.m., at Navy Pier Ballroom.  All are welcome to attend.

Within this class there are 5 candidates, 4 who are grandchildren of LODD and 1 child of a LODD.

Michael Hale, grandson of Robert Synakiewitz.
Donald Kaczka, grandson of Donald Kaczka.
Daniel McGovern, grandson of Daniel McGovern.
Megan O’Keefe, granddaughter of Richard Franzen.

Congratulations to all for choosing an honorable profession.

These families will RSVP through their respective candidates however any other GBS members who would like to attend are asked to RSVP to Eileen by October 10 for appropriate seating.

As we are always in the process of updating the GBS’s membership, we are asking if you have any new information that you would like us to have i.e. an updated e-mail, address, phone number or any other contact information that we would need to contact members, please let us know at this address or contact Eileen via cell number.

As much as we like to include any events, updates etc. through the newsletter, many come up through the month and we would like to keep the membership updated the best that we can. Any help on this matter, would be appreciated.

The Chicago Axemen Illinois Chapter 1, working with many great businesses, is raising money for the EMWQ Retirees’, Widows’ and Children’s Assistance Fund. They will be having their final “Cruise Night” Wednesday, Oct.19th located at Mill Creek Center 12902-12960 S. Lagrange Road. Please join them for classic cars, great food and drinks.
