about the gold badge society

The Chicago Fire Department Gold Badge Society was founded February 17, 1991. Our membership is comprised of the widowed and families of firefighters and paramedics who have made the ultimate sacrifice: losing their lives in the line of duty.

Our purpose for existing is to offer support and comfort to any and all who might benefit from our experiences, especially any future duty-death families.

We work to achieve this by:

  • Serving as family advocates and providing ongoing comfort and support to families.
  • Outreach to families on a national level.
  • A growing scholarship program
  • Creating a memorial park honoring our fallen firefighters and paramedics . . .our heroes.
