Dear Gold Badge Members and Friends,
On Tuesday May 8th, the State of Illinois 25th Annual Medal of Honor and Memorial Ceremony. The memorial will be held In Springfield at the State of Illinois Fire Fighter Memorial Site with Medal of Honor ceremonies held at the Prairie Capital Convention Center beginning at 10:00 a.m.
It has been discovered by the family of Captain Patrick Deasy, LODD May 15, 1921, that we had the wrong date of death, both in the badge case and in the park. Of course, this needs to be rectified. It was determined that it would be a nice gesture on our part if we did what has become a tradition and do an unveiling both of the badge case and the brick at the park. On Tuesday, May 15th (2e-2) beginning at 11:00 a.m., we will gather at the Academy for that unveiling and then travel to the park. All are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to Eileen as parking is at times an issue.
